The Greater Purpose

James 1:2-4 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
I am not very good at waiting. When I lived in Southern California one of my least favorite things to do was going to the DMV. The wait was unbelievable, you might have the simplest thing to accomplish there but it might take you 4 or 5 hours of waiting to get it done. I would have moved to Twin Falls just for the DMV here which is rarely crowded and most of the time there is no wait at all.
But waiting and patience are highly esteemed characteristics of the Christian faith. Patience amidst trials and tribulations are often the way spiritual growth happens in our lives. In fact here in James chapter 1 we are told that when Patience has completed its work in us we are truly spiritually mature.
So whatever trials you are facing or going through right now I encourage you to see the greater purpose in them, the deeper work that the Lord is accomplishing as we wait and learn to trust him.
Can anyone share how waiting on the Lord has brought blessing and maturity into their lives? I know we would all benefit from your experience. You don’t have to be specific, just share what you have learned.
