God of Love or God of Wrath?

Revelation chapter 6 is an amazing chapter with the horses and the riders that picture God’s wrath poured out during the tribulation period. Here God judges the earth and wipes out 1/4th of the world’s population in one day.

Some have a hard time with this because they cannot reconcile the God of love they see in Jesus with the God of wrath here in Revelation. But actually God in Christ has been extending his grace to the world now for 2,000 years. We are currently still living in the age of Grace when He freely forgives our sins and we can be born again never to experience the wrath of God.

1 Thess 5:9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath , but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ.

Even during the tribulation period God’s grace is still offered and we know that there will be multitudes getting saved during this time (though for this they will pay with their lives)

What do you think? Can you offer other verses and passages that relate to this topic? God is love the bible says so what’s up with all this wrath, death and destruction? Enquiring minds want to know. Here is a clue – Jeremiah 11:7-8

If God dealt with His own people this way, you can be sure He will deal with other Christ rejecting nations and peoples.
