Obama-Nation?

Below is the rant of a guy named Dutch Sheets. He is a pastor and a ‘renewal preacher’. His remarks reflect the feelings of many in the body of Christ. Not mine……

“I feel certain that many in my stream of the Church want astatement from me concerning Tuesday’s presidential election. I will be frank in my remarks but I do not, however, intend to vent anger or

attack anyone. I have read several statements from friends and
colleagues I respect very much.
Their thoughts are well stated and, for the most part, insightful.
None of them, however, seem to want to say some things that I believe
need to be said. I do not claim infallibility or to have the final
word, but my convictions run deep and I believe I bear a God-given
responsibility to share them.

Was This God’s Will?

Was what happened Tuesday God’s will? I am quite confident it
was not. America was offered a very clear choice between moving
further toward protecting the unborn or further away; between a
Supreme Court that would move toward honoring God, life and morality
or away from it. The stakes couldn’t have been higher nor the cost
greater. As a nation we put on blinders concerning Barak Obama’s
background, associations, beliefs and practices, and set these causes
back years, possibly decades.
And in doing so we took another step away from God and His plans
for America, and another step toward judgment.

Judgment Will Increase

This is not a fire and brimstone warning from an angry,
legalistic preacher. In fact, I feel more sadness and grief than
anything else.
Perhaps I feel what Jesus felt as He wept for Jerusalem while
announcing its judgment. I am not hoping for judgment; I am saying it
is inevitable. I don’t know where the unbiblical belief comes from
that says a nation can live any way it pleases, can reject God and His
ways-even mock Him-and not receive His judgments. Nor do I know when
the belief came that it is always mean-spirited or judgmental to warn
of these things. To the contrary, I believe it is our responsibility.

In warning of judgment, I am not suggesting that God is going to
intentially and directly hurt people. Much judgment is simply the
absence of God’s protection and provision, caused by a rejection of
His laws and ways. We have been experiencing some forms of judgment
in America for years, but God in His incredible patience and mercy has
kept us from the level we’ve deserved. I believe this will change to
a degree and judgment will now
increase:

* For those in the Church who aligned themselves with
pro-abortion forces, I believe judgment will result.

* For leaders in the Body of Christ who refused to take a
stand for fear of losing people, money, and tax-exempt status-I
believe there will be a degree of judgment.

* For those, both within the Church and without, who voted
money over morality-a potential raise or better health insurance over
the life of a baby-there will be judgment. (The irony is that this
decision to base one’s vote on the hopes of a better economy won’t
produce the hoped for result anyway. The scriptures teach that it is
righteousness which exalts a nation and that the nation is blessed
whose God is the Lord.)

I have heard the argument that God cares as much about
social justice issues (such as poverty and racism) as He does
abortion, making a vote for Obama OK. I certainly believe God puts a
very high priority on caring for the poor and I, too, have wanted to
see equality demonstrated through a “minority” president. But to
equate having a better income or the desire for a first black
president, regardless of his positions on abortion and morality, to
the issue of killing 50 million babies is not justice-it is a gross
distortion of justice and great deception. I fear that we have been
desensitized to this issue of abortion. I believe it kills babies and
takes innocent life. I also believe it is blood sacrifice that
empowers demons. Let’s not forget this in our noble attempts to be
kind and conciliatory.
For African Americans I can easily see how it could bring
healing to have a first black president, just as it would be for
Native Americans to achieve this or for women if a woman were elected
president. Again, I have wanted to see justice in this way. I am
only saddened that the price for this healing ended up being Barak
Obama, a man that will set the cause of life and, most-likely, our
God-given destiny as a nation back so drastically. (I also realize
there are some who interpret any criticism of Obama as racism. Racism
is so NOT what I am about nor what I live, that I will not even
dignify any such accusations with a response.)

What Can We Expect?

What are some of the judgments we can expect on our nation from
this election?

* More economic woes
* More violence in an already violent nation
* Disease and death (satan, who is responsible for these
things will have greater inroads to our nation.)
* Natural disasters (weather-tornadoes, hurricanes, floods,
drought; fires; earthquakes; etc.)
* Terrorism (they will fear us much less now)
* War, perhaps on our own soil
* Judgments relating to the Court. The stacking of the Supreme
Court against the sanctity of life and God’s influence on America will
occur, which will in turn cause the shedding of more innocent blood,
more rejection of God’s laws and the stealing from us of our godly
heritage-all of which will perpetuate a cycle of even more judgment.

How Did This Happen?

I’ve been asked if this could have been averted had there
been more prayer. I’m not sure. I believe there was a remnant of
Christians fervently praying over these elections-I don’t think there
was anything more they could have done. Others, obviously, should have
done more. The complacency and lack of discernment concerning our
real condition in America-especially by the Church-is both appalling
and horrifying. America is in serious trouble and it seems no one
wants to say it. Fewer still are willing to do anything to change it.

Though I understand our reasons, we must be careful in
our attempts to placate our feelings and calm our fears through
religious phrases like “God is still on the throne” or “God has a
plan”. He was on His throne 35 years and 50 million babies ago. And
He had a plan back then. The problem is, it was us. I understand our
reasons for waving high the banner of God’s sovereignty at times like
these-it gives us hope. I will wave it, as well.
But please be careful with this. Too much emphasis on God’s
sovereignty and we’re worthless; too little and we’re hopeless. Maybe
we should say, “we lost a critical battle but God will give us
strategy to win the war.” Then find the strategy.

But still yet, since God is usually willing to work
through a remnant, I thought we had enough prayer. Obviously, God
decided otherwise. There comes a time when He will not forgive or
bless the majority based on the prayers or actions of only a few.
America rejected God and asked for a king; I believe we now have our
Saul (see 1 Samuel 8:5-7)-a man who does not have God’s heart for
America but his own. Like Israel in scripture, our nation believes it
can turn from God and still be blessed. In His mercy and justice He
will show us otherwise.

Like many, believing I had many promises and confirmations
that God would “grace” us with a pro-life president in this election,
I failed to consider strongly enough that all promises-even
scripture-are conditional 99.9% of the time. Though I never prophesied
or made guarantees that McCain-Palin would win, failing to factor this
principle in strongly enough no doubt caused me to share my optimism
with others inappropriately. If this caused any harm or confusion, I
apologize.

Has the fact that my prayers weren’t answered shaken my
faith? No. I’m a little confused and discouraged. I’m also somewhat
angry at the nation in general and much of the Church. Mostly I’m
grieving over the nation and what this will cost us. I am not,
however, angry with God and do not question His justice. And it is not
true that we wasted our time, energy and money in our efforts anymore
than it is a waste when we share the gospel with people who don’t get
saved. We must keep in the forefront of our thinking the fact that
ultimately we are doing this for Him and that He will reward us for
our faithfulness. And who knows, perhaps He will store up all those
prayers for the next battle (Revelation 5:8, 8:3-5).

A friend and fellow warrior said it well,

“We did ‘give it our all.’ I know the Lord was pleased with
that. A coach wants to know one thing at the end of a heartbreaking
sports loss: ‘Did you leave it all on the field?’ (your passion, your
commitment, your strength, your courage, etc.) I know that we ‘left it
all on the field.’ We didn’t hold anything back until the game ended.
Tragically, it ended in defeat. We will rise for another day because
Jesus is worthy.”

Where Do We Go from Here?

Does this election outcome shake my faith that we can see
a great awakening and ultimately reformation in America? Absolutely
not (and it strengthens my resolve). We will simply get there through
greater pain and loss. Even my passion to see the Supreme Court shift
is not from a presupposition that there can be no spiritual awakening
without it. It is simply due to my deep conviction that their
decisions bring so much death, destruction, curses and judgment to
America; and because our full destiny as a nation is unquestionably
linked to their decisions. So, yes, we will get an awakening and
reformation; but the reality is that this reformation of the nation
will reform the Supreme Court (and government, in general), not
vice-versa. My faith has never been in people or a political party;
my faith is in the God who works through them.

I’ve been asked if my feelings about Sarah Palin have
changed. They have not. I believe she is an Esther, a Deborah, with a
huge mantle from God for reformation. God has a great destiny for her
related to this nation if she chooses to continue down this path.

So, in conclusion, we must re-group as an apostolic, praying
church and advance. We must maintain an immovable faith in God, His
plans for America and His mercy. And we must move beyond simply
asking God for a spiritual awakening and ask Him for strategy to
produce reformation, as well. I, for one, am just getting started!”

For God and this great nation,
Dutch Sheets

I’m not sure what frightens me more. The current president, elected by the majority of our country through the democratic process that has served us well as a nation, or the election shaking the faith of so many Christians. I am one that is fearful of the future under our new administration. Our government was set up to have a series of checks and balances. We have an Executive, Legislative and Judical Branch. Our Executive and Legislative Branches are going to see a significant switch here soon. And, in my opinion, the Judical Branch seems to think it’s the legislative branch. I’m sure that the God fearing founding fathers didn’t see the world the way that we see it now. There are a lot of different challenges that we, as a nation, face today. I know that they never thought that the state constitutions needed to define marriage to be between a man and a woman however they placed a way to adapt and amend the document that we govern ourselves by. The future of the world is in the back of that book that sits on my night stand. We already know what is going to happen, we just don’t know how we are going to get there. This planet has seen a lot of turmoil before. As a nation we have had it pretty good for over 200 years. We know that God is in control and that he has a plan for the world. So did God allow our next president to win the election. Well, Romans 13:1…”Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.” I am one that is guilty of fear. I’m still trying to overcome it. I am fearful of where our next president might lead our country. I’m fearful of what that might mean for America, and my family. Is fear the right response, or just the human response? We are in the world, not of it….THANK GOD!

wow… that was hard to stomach… i serve a god who is in control….. i pray that is “pastor” is revealed the truth in his fear….

im not happy with the election, but i am happy to rest to know god isin control and he sees the heart…. i am not accountable for obama, mccain, or those that sling hate… thank god…

god isnt small nor in the box of our legislative system or lack there of…. his will is being played out.

stay restful everyone and peaceful in his plan… good or bad we signed up, its our duty to follow his lead even if we dont understand it.

  3. Deana on November 9th, 2008 6:51 am

Unfortunately, people like to put God in their box. He is sooooo much more than any of the things this man speaks of. Neither candidate was prolife. McCain simply stated that he would want the states to make those decisions not the federal government.

The Bible does say God chooses whom He wills to govern and lead. So how can this man be so gripped by fear?
Bottom line, we have to be in prayer for our leaders.

  4. Carol Scriven on November 9th, 2008 11:19 am

I was surprised to read the comments of Dutch Sheets. I have heard him speak and he can be very insightful. Anyone can get caught up in their emotions, this is a perfect example. We need to be careful of what we say and with that in mind, I believe that the Lord was speaking to my heart recently about the election. When we stand before Jesus we are not going to talk about who became president this year. Our Christian walk is more important. Keeping our hearts right before Him. Maybe it sounds like a cop-out to say “God is in control” but He really is! All we have to do is read Revelation and we can see that our world is headed for some catastrophes and people are being put in positions to bring this about. Yes, we are responsible as a nation for abortion, pornography, etc, but I personally am tired of hearing that God is throwing down a little judgement here and there. God doesn’t play games like that. We are all walking in mercy & grace right now and when God does decide to “judge” us it won’t be a building blown up here and an explosion there. The “predictions” Dutch Sheets made are not a new prophecy. They are common sense about the things that will increase. When God says that people in government and authority are put in place by Him, it doesn’t always mean they are sweet, kind, and Christian. Pharoah was put in place strategically by God to accomplish His will. Even if every “Christian” had voted for McCain, for example, and Obama had won then the notion that we are somehow under a curse and going to be judged is ridiculous. Love is the fulfillment of everything so that is of utmost important. Most of us don’t have a platform like the President, but in our own lives day to day, we can reach out in love to others. That’s where we are going to be judged. Our words and our deeds. Not for what Obama does. We will endure things due to other peoples choices, whether it’s our spouse, our bosses, or the President, etc, but we will not be judged according to what they do. Choose love, walk in peace, turn your eyes upon Jesus and the things of the world will grow strangely dim; but if you look at the economy, if you look at reality, then you will forget about TRUTH. If He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life then I think that’s the best thing to focus on and now get all caught up in what’s happening in Washington. I don’t mean bury your head in the sand, but God really is in control.

We will reap treasure in the darkest times. We will become more focused upon our relationship with Jesus. Our priorities as a body will shift to a higher degree of commitment to pulling that black book off the shelf or nightstand and finding comfort and reassurance there more often. I believe that there is difficulty in the making without a doubt. But, I know my God will use all things ( including this) together for GOOD for those who love him and are called according to his purpose. He has never not done that in my personal life. He has never let me down. Why would he start now? We have nothing to fear except out own unwillingness to bend. :o)

i was not able to vote because i was hunting but i did take two demcrates with me. maybe i should have taken more. none the less arnt we supposed to pray for our leaders no matter who they are. we will have trials no matter who’s in there God will heal our lands when who are called by his name will repent and seek his face. not on who’s in the white house. in hind sights every nation that gets comphertible has fallen a sleep. but when we have trials and tribulation we wake up and move. so Jesus bring the rain.

i did want to vote for larry the cable guy, but i didn’t see that he was running.

  7. Mandie on November 11th, 2008 2:48 am

I was a little shocked to read this letter written by a “Pastor”. Does he know the Word of God at all?? I mean if he did would he still feel the same way? For him to honestly believe that God was not in control of this election just astounds me! I believe that God knew Obama would be President when he created the world. God knew everything back then. How things would be. He knows what he is doing all though the rest of us may not. I am not going to call Mr. Sheets a racist by any means. I do not get that vibe from him, but I think that he needs to spend a little more time with God!

  8. Brandon on November 11th, 2008 5:54 pm

Well I just kinda browse read the article, so take this for what it’s worth.
I would say I agree with some of the stuff he says, but also disagree with some of the stuff. However, it seems like the issue at hand is “the will of God.” Boy what a loaded topic this can turn out to be haha.
God has an active will and a passive will. For instance, if God is going to WILL something to pass, it is going to pass. Active WILL. However, he also “wills that all shall be saved.” And we know that not all are going to be saved. Did God’s will not come to pass? Not necessarily. Just a different form of the word. Passive will.
Kinda tough to explain but hopefully you can see the difference. I don’t really want to get into it too deep, but I do have one concern. A lot of people in the past, and in today’s “church” society, have used the “whatever happens happens and it was God’s will” excuse to become extremely apathetic. Apathy is a deadly grave! Think of how this idea was taken out of context by the radical side of Calvinism: Only God decides who is or isn’t saved. With this thought in mind, people got lazy and apathetic towards soul winning! Because since “God’s will is going to happen” then nothing we can do is going to affect that, so just let it be. In today’s world, for instance, all the Christians could have said “God’s will is going to come to pass in this election no matter what.” (Which is true, it did come to pass because we DO know that God is in control – and so we have no fear of what will happen. Psalm 37:25 “I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken, or their children begging bread.”) However, if we took this to the extreme, then what was the point of any of us voting? We should not have voted at all. We should have become extremely apathetic to the moral state of the country we live in. We should have sat back with smug grins on our face and said “it doesn’t matter, God’s will is going to happen.” Would this have been the right attitude? Of course not.

So anyway, just remember that yes God is Sovereign, and He is in control. And we are to have no fear. In fact, I would encourage everyone to look up, and lift up your heads, for our redemption draweth nigh. But be careful of becoming apathetic and unmotivated to do everything that our Great and Glorious God has called us to. Hope this makes sense!

In much love and waiting for His return -
    Brandon

the one thing on my mind is now we have to pray for our leaders right. God can and will move our leaders. if every true christian had voted we might still have lost. i gave my views at work last night and i was called a racist, judgemental, and also got smacked in the back of the head. true story! we are the minority, but if God is for us who can be against us. evan with a christian in there, bad things still happened. my Jesus is not limited to people being in control evan satin asks for permission. and one day obama will drop to his knee and confess Jesus as Lord .

  10. Mandie on November 13th, 2008 11:49 pm

Gee Clay I hope that you are right. I Know that I would have rather had the other guy in there. But yes, we must pray for our leaders. I don’t think that we can honestly point fingers and say “Yes! A Christian was in office and look what has happened!” Yes, I feel some bad choices were made on his part, but he tried to do certian things to help and Congress kept shooting him down! Congress has stopped alot of things from happeneing because there are alot of selfish people in there. Things would be better, I believe, if they would listen to the President and stop worrying about it affects THEIR pocket books. I am sorry that you had to go through that kind of persecution at work Clay! That must have been awful for you! I will be praying for you that things will get better for you. Hold on! I believe that this is only the beginning of a slippery slope of persecution coming to Christians everywhere! But we will get by knowing that Christ will return for us soon!

lots and lots of freedoms we have taken advantage of i wounder what will happen now. i do pray for the unborne children that will be slaughtered through abortion.

p.s. the slap on the head was just a NCIS slap. im okay. but i was alone they all like obama.

I am new to this blogging so bear with me. I just thought of Daniel 1 When Nebuchandnezzer’s army surrounded Jerusalem and made them surrenender. God allowed that to happen and no matter how much we try to do Gods job the one who we think shoundnt be there is Gods plan for us. Is it possible that Daniel wondered the same thing why God would let that happen? Because it is Gods plan Amen to that and he never give up worshiping God. To me it sounds like this man is angry with God and doesnt think it went his way well ill be honest it didnt go mine either but it wasnt becouse I picked the wrong arrow it was because that was not His plan.

Time will tell. I pray you will be ready when it does.

    Blessings

  16. Bob on November 20th, 2008 6:30 pm

First of all at least I can spell “explain” so that is pretty good proof that I am smarter than you. So that being said it’s people like you that cause the “blood shed” and ruining of America by trying to push your agendas of YOUR god on everyone else. We just got a new president that hopes to make this world better for everyone and these kind of beliefs are what prevent us from moving forward. I have nothing against the bible but preaching the same values that were preached thousands of years ago and not owing up and accepting that we now live in a different world is the same principals that result in terrorism and the downfall of your great country.

  17. clay starr on November 20th, 2008 8:09 pm

okay, so my spelling is not the greatist, but i do not remember pushing my agenda on anybody. you are the one that came into a conversation between friends. i can see you are very passionate about this subject. does it anger you that other people have different views.

  18. Susan on November 20th, 2008 8:12 pm

Hey, Bob….. woah guy!!!!! ( RU a guy?) No one shoved the blog in your face and made you sign on here. How are we pushing our agendas on you? Seems to me that we are the only ones out there not allowed to do that these days. The 10 commandments are gone from public view, no more nativity, can’t pray in school anymore…. I’m not quite sure how you figure we’re to blame for everything.

  22. Royce on November 21st, 2008 4:02 am

Are you still there, Bob? Your sentiments reveal that either you’ve not read the bible or that you do indeed “have [something] against the bible.” Truth is eternal, and God doesn’t change. The world is changing more rapidly than ever before, but God’s desire to save the world through His son Jesus Christ will never change.

  23. clay on November 21st, 2008 6:37 pm

    hi bob,

idont know if you will ever read this blog again, but in the chance you do. i just want to tell you some things. i struggled with this for awhile. when you called my friends and i idiots it made me want to lay hands on you my friend, but i have been a christian for 16 years that means i am a follower of Jesus.

i do my best to do what he teaches me to do, and hurting people is not one of them. i pray to him and he talks to me. he helps me, and he has brought me to where i am today. we have a great relationship. he has taught me to follow him and not man.

man has an excellent record of screwing things up. by mis use of power, greed, and thinking they are better than other people. man teaches you to be self centered. you have to live for yourself, and forget about everybody else. this line of thinking is poison to your soul. Christ is other centered.

think about other people first. do unto others as you would have them do unto you, love your neighbor as yourself, and when a man is thirsty, give him drink. so you can see i don’t believe in what the world is trying to push on me.

i dont care about money, power, or who went to the best school, or evan what color a person is. i care about morals, and i dont believe in this man. i have a bad feeling in my gut about him.

i work in the medical field. not that makes me a genius, but one thing i have learned is. evan Dr’s misspell words, and are not infallible. i could ask you a hundred questions, and unless you were in the field. you would not have a clue. just because i misspelled a word does not make me stupid.

in fact to me following a man and puting your trust in him, instead of the one who created the universe, and time it self. is one of the most important and biggest mistakes anyone person can ever make.

    in hopes you
    see this
    clay

  24. Bob on November 21st, 2008 9:02 pm

You all make valid points…..I shall turn to Christ in the future to vent my anger and not your blog…..Do onto others as you should have done to thy self….so please I ask you that you consider the beliefs of others and try to think outside the contexts of the bible when telling other people how to live their lives in regards to gays, abortion, and free speech. May George Bush burn in hell for his sins and hopefully Obama can lead us in a direction that better favors the lives of everyone despite their upbringing, background, and preferences on how to live their lives. I appreciate your moral compass but please try to consider things in greater realm of this world and not what is written in the Bible.

  25. Bob on November 21st, 2008 9:02 pm

    And I’m a doctor too

  26. Christa on November 21st, 2008 9:50 pm

Clay, well said… Bob, Clay’s spelling isn’t top notch, but who is it hurting? This isn’t a spelling bee, we left those behind in grade school I believe. His heart is right on… See through the spelling, extend some grace and read his heart…

As for Bush burning in hell… those who burn in hell are those who don’t know the Savior. I wouldn’t want the job of picking who will be headed there, I somehow think the Lord wouldn’t much like me doing such things. Who am I? I am no better than any other sinful person born to this earth. I have no more right to be in Heaven than anyone else, and no less right to hell than anyone ever born before or after me. I am so grateful for His mercy and grace.

As for our beliefts, beliefs like these are beyond time. They are still valid in this day and age, as valid as they were hundreds and even thousands of years ago. We aren’t in such an “enlightened” time that we need to give up our faith to move along with what is the current trend. Trends change. We do consider the lifestyles and beliefs of others. However, we would be worthless followers of Christ if we weren’t concerned about the souls of the people who are living against the bible and just accepted everything as “hey it’s not what I believe but good on ya”. To us, the Bible is the word of God, it is true and always has been and always will be. If we didn’t believe that, then we wouldn’t be Christians. And if we do believe the word of God is true cover to cover, then we have to be in prayer and reaching out to people that the Bible says are in sin. This doesn’t mean we are out to write them a ticket to hell. But to reach to them and share the Gospel and pray for their salvation. I don’t see the comparison to terrorism, I just don’t see it. When I came to the Lord I was surrounded by loving people who were concerned for my eternity, who prayed on my behalf, no one held a gun to my head. Not one person bombed my home for not believing in the Word. And believe me, I was in every way living against Christ. We are not interested in following the world’s views and trends of the time, instead we want to hold onto the rock. The world is always in some sort of turmoil and waves are always crashing, we want to hold onto the true Rock, Christ, who sustains us through the storms. While everything changes in this world, He doesn’t and his word never changes… Bob, to me, it appears you may be seeking truth and peace as we all have at times. Obama may do a wonderful job, then again he may not. I suppose it depends on your point of view as to his level of success and time will tell… But looking to a man, any human, to be the savior is just vanity. I pray that as you search for peace in these times, you’ll consider our point of view as much as you plead for us to consider the views of the rest of the world. We will not give up the Bible as our compass, we won’t let go of Christ as our solid point in the storm. We try to love others as much as we can, though we all fall short at times and let our passion on certain issues get in the way of Christ’s love through us. But our heart is to see everyone in heaven. We don’t want to offend anyone here on earth. But if we’re right and the bible is true and this life is just a blip on the screen but eternity in heaven or hell is the big picture, then of course we get passionate. If hell is real, we don’t want anyone to be in that place. Friend or enemy, we don’t want them there. And if heaven is real. Well, there’s no better place to be, and we want everyone to be there. If you can see that this is where we are coming from, you can see why we get so fired up. Some people, unfortunately, end up coming off as very ugly to people. And on the other hand, even those coming off in a loving way get looked down on as judgemental and “pushing” views on others. All faiths out there are welcome to practice what they like and believe what they like. Susan is quite right, we are getting squelched right and left. We can’t do much of anything if the name of Christ is involved. Somehow His name really offends the world unless it’s used as a cuss word. Which offends me, but the world couldn’t care in the least if I’m left offended because my Savior, whom I believe 100% with my whole heart died on the cross to save me from my sins, is misrepresented as a filthy cuss word. I am allowed to be offended quite regularly these days. But I have to fear offending people because I believe in the Bible? (Remember I said I was totally against the Lord once upon a time, so I also didn’t think abortion, homosexuality or any other thing was wrong either, and believe me, I was not enlightened by believing that way, not in the least. I was so blind…) It burdens and saddens my heart so deeply to see things happen that are so against the Lord and His heart toward us. He loves us so much and wants the best for us. He isn’t saying “no” to sins because he is a tyrant who wants us to have no fun. Just like when I tell my kids no to something, they may think I’m just mean for saying no. But it’s to protect them. God loves us even more so and His “no” is for our protection. He has good things in mind for us, it is us not following His desires for us that lead us into many more hardships. Oh I’m getting way more wordy than I intended and going into lots more things than I’d planned. I just don’t know if I can get my point across so I suppose if I talk you to death it will help, lol! Bob, we don’t mean to offend. Thank you for your thoughts. But try to hear our hearts. We hope that you will see Christ shining through us instead…

wow ive missed out on alot with this blog…. and it looks like it was for the best….. i would have reacted angrily at bob if i was called an idiot after having a discussion….

and what the heck did i miss in the last 8 years, that would deserve president bush to be sent to hell? i dont know and understand all this anger i see everywhere now that obama is to be our next president…. i truly feel sorry for the job obama has ahead of him…. not only does he want change to the system… which wont be so bad in some regards…. but he is taking on a fervent nation’s expectations…. they are setting him so high up that im afraid for him and his family if he proves to be infallible…. (sp? bob?) the demecrat before bush proved himself to be extremely infallible… im peachment was very close …. and now look at how this world has forgotten that. obama’s supporters really need to back down and let things settle and not be so mad if someone expresses a view other than your own…

so closing, plaese answer my question on why bush should be put in hell…. i am truly shocked and saddened, nothing in the last 8 years was a blessing to you?

    Hey folks,
I’m praying that our new president will do a great job! The president gig is a tough one. I wouldn’t wish it on anybody. I think history will be a little kinder to our current president than public opinion is now. But any way you slice it, to try and fix what’s broken in a fallen world is generally an exercise in futility. God bless president-elect Obama and all the new politicians coming into office.

    I’m just curious Bob….

Why did you think you had to play the Doctor card here? There are many professional people of faith. Many of your colleagues, possibly your accountant, your pharmacist… etc. We’re not all uneducated idiots..

You have done very well at framing your arrogance to us little people in your first comment. And for the record, the only hate I have observed here is your own.

You almost sound as if your rights should be above the rest of us… And when you talk about Christians judging others by our standards???? Then tell us that our president should burn in Hell?

I hope you never get the opportunity to operate on me man…Sorry to say, but I don’t trust your judgment.

So many opinions! If it isn’t in God’s Word and He didn’t say it there, then why should we try to be Him and say it as if we can replace Him?
Quit the worry for “this day has enough troubles of its own”.

  43. Ian Bullis on December 5th, 2008 5:06 pm

He is mostly correct about the political consequences of electing Obama & his naive policies,
however, it always is interesting to me to listen to misguided Christians talk about America as if it is God’s “new Israel”.

I am not as Biblically Knowledgeable as Greg – so feel free to correct me if I’m wrong buddy –
but I just don’t see anywhere in the New Testament where God brought down catastrophe as “judgment” on a nation just because it wasn’t following him.

God is more concerned about His people (Christians) than he is about the countries they live in.

Seriously, what makes America so special that God should Judge us over China? or other Countries where terrible things are being done that obviously break God’s law.

I am a Conservative, I love this country very much.
I was very upset to see some of my Christian brothers & sisters vote for this man, & even more
upset to see that he was elected.
But I do not despair, because the more this world crumbles, the closer we come to Christ’s Return!

    to quote John:
    “Amen, Come Lord Jesus!”

  44. Lynn on December 6th, 2008 12:27 am

    AMEN

  45. Keith on December 6th, 2008 8:25 pm

Wow, history is made. A black president. He is very impressive to listen to. He can almost bring a tear to your eye and has a huge influence over alot of the people. There were more people crying watching him than i have ever seen. unexperienced-yes, scarry-yes but these are scarry times and the lord knows what he is doing by putting him in office. I dont believe in alot of things obama believes in but now he is our president now and we need to stick by his side. He has already received like 50,000 death threats. if he is assasinated, OH MAN, WATCH OUT!! This country could go nuts, we could have a nationwide watts riot.
I voted for Mccain because i thought he was the best man. The lord thought differently.

One thing that bothered me with Obama’s exceptance speach was that he included gays in his equal right part. McCain said he would do anything for votes. Maybe he was right. Oh well..
He is our president now. I think he will be under a microscope for a while and he can’t make decisions with out his administration or the senate, I believe.
I also am against any form of gun control, unlike Obama.
